Marianne L. Fivek, Ph.D.
Director
As University Director, she oversees the planning and running of the Governor's School and handles the budget. Marianne served as Assistant Director for four years before being named University Director. Marianne is also Assistant to the Dean for Undergraduate Recruitment and an Assistant Professor of Agricultural and Extension Education in the College of Agricultural Sciences. Before joining the Resident Education staff, she was Director of Agricultural Activities at the W.B. Saul High School of Agricultural Sciences in Philadelphia. Marianne has a B.S. in Animal Husbandry from Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture, a Master of Education in Agricultural and Extension Education from Penn State. Marianne enjoys spending time with her husband Chris and her daughter Emma Elizabeth, their family horse, and visiting friends and family.
As the Assistant Program Director, Ketja is responsible for supervising the GSAs, coordinating field trips, compiling the Annual Report, and handling many details involved with planning and running the program. Ketja spent her early years in a rural community in upstate New York. She has a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, in a joint program of Music and Business. a master's degree in Agricultural, Environmental, and Regional Economics from Penn State, where her interests lie in student development in the agricultural sciences. Ketja enjoys traveling, playing the flute, and photography; and spending time with her husband Dwight, family and friends. She has been involved with the Governor’s School program since 1999 and is looking forward to this summer.
Residence Life Coordinators
The two residence life coordinators handle many of the logistics, technology, and medical needs of the students. They also serve as advisors and coordinators for the governor's school assistants with residence life issues.
Governor's School Assistants
The seven governor's school assistants work as a team as counselors, teaching assistants, and role models to the students. They work with their residence hall groups, assist in classes, and attend day to day events.
